Chrysler Sales Up 4% In May .... (only because of Jeep)
From Forbes:
DaimlerChrysler AG said Friday its U.S.-based Chrysler division's May U.S. sales rose on a jump in demand for Jeep brand models.
Overall, DaimlerChrysler sold 221,164 vehicles, up 3.9 percent from 212,882 in May 2006.
Adjusted for one additional selling day this May compared with last, DaimlerChrysler sales fell 0.1 percent.
Chrysler Group sales rose 4.3 percent to 199,393 from 191,261 in May 2006.
Sales of the division's Jeep brand vehicles increased 20 percent, as demand for its Wrangler model more than doubled to 12,332 vehicles. Sales of the brand's new Compass and Patriot models also offset lower demand for its Liberty, Grand Cherokee and Commander models.
