Lucas Oil Stabilizer
While traversing the local automotive store for new products, I came across a product called oil stabilizer. After speaking with the salesman about an upcoming oil change, he suggested that I use Lucas Oil Stabilizer. With the mileage, age and knocking sounds I'd hear every so often coming from my Jeep®, he said that using it would help prevent noise, heat and wear as well as help prolong my daily driver's life. I picked up 4 quarts of oil and 1 quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer and headed home to perform the change.
Pros:
- Blends with all automotive lubricants, even synthetics, mineral oil and ATF.
- Stops most seal leaks.
- Inexpensive.
- Makes oil last 50% longer.
Cons:
Cost: $8.99 per quart.
Here are the specifics on this wonderful product. Lucas Oil Stabilizer is a 100% petroleum based product formulated to compensate for wear in old engines and gear boxes and stop the wear process in new ones. Lucas Oil Stabilizer is powerful blend of petroleum extracted additives that allow motor oils and gear oils to maintain a higher degree of lubricity, thus it eliminates high temperature viscosity breakdown even under the most extreme conditions. It also allows the oil to last 50% longer. These qualities have made Lucas Oil Stabilizer the favorite additive for racing and trucking industries. With all this in mind, it was an obvious choice.
Keep in mind that oil treated with Lucas Oil Stabilizer does not run off cylinders after being shut down. This condition virtually eliminates dry starts, the number one cause of wear in an otherwise well maintained engine.
While plain motor oil is formulated with the tolerance of new engines in mind, Lucas can help both new and old. While a small amount (15%-20%) can maintain a new engine, larger amounts (up to 60%) can be added to a worn engine to properly seal and cushion the moving parts to slow oil consumption and prevent further wear. Once an engine becomes worn, the wearing process advances at a rapid rate because motor oil alone cannot fill the space between moving parts. (This is particularly true in the use of synthetics.), and thus another reason to use Lucas Stabilizer.
After doing my oil change and adding 1 quart of Lucas, I can tell you that you can really "feel" the difference. The engine just seems to run quieter and smoother. There is no more knocking or pinging coming from the engine. The oil stabilizer just seems to fill the gap where something was missing. I would higly recommend using Lucas Oil Stabilizer for any of your automotive engines. You will not regret it.
