Actron - PocketScan Code Reader CP9125
Review         Specs

We have all been there one time or another, driving down the street and suddenly the "CHECK ENGINE" light comes on. Do we panic or we remain calm? We wonder what in the world is going on with our source of transportation? "Why is this happening to me?", and the notorious "how much is this going to cost to fix"? All of these questions flow through our mind as we ponder what in the world to do next.

Everybody knows that when you take your vehicle in to have it serviced and they say they are going to hook it up to some fancy diagnostics machine, its going to cost you plenty right there. Some places charge over $100.00 just to hook it up to one little machine to get a code, and not to mention another $100.00 to shut the "CHECK ENGINE" light off. This is where the folks over at Actron have have got your back with their new line of diagnostic code readers.

I recently had the dreaded "CHECK ENGINE" light on my Grand Cherokee. The guys over at the dealership were urging me to bring it in since it was shifting funny. I have heard of ACTRON code readers before, but have never thought about buying one. Would they work? What to do about the codes?, etc etc. In my debating, I decided to do a little research and it seemed logical to pick up one of the Actron jewels. I went to the local automotive store, looked at all the great options and choices, and decided on the newest OBD II code reader....the Actron PocketScan Code Reader CP9125. It retails for less then $100.00, and right there, I just gained my money back. (Remember about what I said earlier about hooking up to diagnostic machines at repair shops!).

I took the PocketScan home, opened the Grand Cherokee up, plugged the OBD II 16-pin connector cable into the module under the dash and turned over the power to the vehicle....in a matter of seconds (after pushing the READ button), the codes came across the screen....plain and simple.

Actron provides a detailed booklet and CD-ROM software that lists all of the OBD codes and their meanings;

"....and this my friends...is a lifesaver!"

After making the needed repairs, my "CHECK ENGINE" light was still illuminated. I simply plugged the PocketScan back into the computer module under the dash, and held down the ERASE button for 5 seconds. It then asks you if you would like to erase the codes. Hold the ERASE button again for another 5 seconds and the codes are erased and the "CHECK ENGINE" light disappears. It was that simple. In a matter of time I was back on the road enjoying the great outdoors like all of us Jeepers do.

Actron has several makes and models of code readers and I would highly recommend everyone picking up one of these jems. They are priceless to have, inexpensive, money-saving, easy-to-use and the best part of it all, they are updateable for future vehicle releases. This product is in top rankings in Mojeepin.com's book....get out and pick one up today...you never know when you might need it!
